| Wine Bottle Cradle WC009 |
|
| Simplicity is the word that best describes this Wine Bottle Cradle. Yet in its simplicity there is a subtle art of arcs and curves. The cradle stands on four fingers, all bending down as if a hand were sitting on a table with the fingers curved and resting on the finger-tips. If it were a hand then the bottle rests on the back of the hand, balanced gracefully. The wood is a deep gold with fine grains of red running the length of each finger. Subtle and unassuming, the cradle shows off the bottle and does not call attention to itself. Yet, it stands alone as a whimsical art piece when the bottle is gone.

| This is another thing I was able to create from that burled branch I found. Like the cane I made, this cradle featured the intricate grains and tiny knots characteristic of burl wood. It also has the same two-tones colors of that amazing cane... with deep veins of white inter-twined with the rich red Manzanita. The shape is both interesting and aesthetically pleasing with the arm out to hold the bottle. The finish is satin-smooth. I doubt I will be able to make many more like this, since the wood is so hard to come by.
